About Us
The Shoelace Factory has been affiliated with The City Museum since it's conception in 1997. It started as a demonstration of antique textile machines then grew into a full factory making shoelaces available for purchase to the public. A family owned enterprise, The Shoelace Factory was created by Mike Killian who still runs the factory today. Mike travels the US finding antique textile machines and refurbishes them, often fabricating replacement parts.
Every shoelace, string, and cord in the shop are made on one of our antique machines. Through out the years, The Shoelace Factory has been manned by family members, including Mike's father and mother, Lee and Joan Killian.
Our shoelaces are of the highest quality and made in artisan colors. Our laces are made with The Shoelace Factory's proprietary Sure-Tie technology that assures laces stay tied all day!
The Shoelace factory is the largest shoelace facility west of the Mississippi and more than likely, the only one creating shoelaces exclusively on antique machines.
